Shield
Healthcare was established in
1957 as a specialty pharmacy. Over the years Shield has expanded
to six locations in California, one in Colorado, one in Illinois,
and one in Washington. In 1982, Shield was purchased by C. R.
Bard, a medical device manufacturer. In September 1990, Shield
was then purchased by its current parent company, Kobayashi Enterprises
International, Inc., owned completely by Kobayashi Pharmaceutical
Co., Ltd., a pharmaceutical manufacturer and distributor. Shield
markets a broad range of disposable medical products and product-related
services required for the treatment and care of patients in the
home.
In addition, Shield Healthcare:
Offers a large selection of disposable medical products, stocking
over 6,000 items.
Specializes in billing third-party insurance carriers, including
Medicare, state Medicaid programs, HMOs, and private insurance
plans.
With a unique "Telecare" and "Clickcare" program,
Shield ensures that customers have the supplies they need, when
they need them, and the quality they need.
Examines each order for compliance with carrier requirements, prescriptions,
authorizations, documentation, quantities, and eligibility.
Controls the quality of service customers receive by providing
all employees with an initial comprehensive training program, product
and service training sessions throughout their employment, and
quality monitoring to identify further training needs.
Shield takes great pride in its customer service. Shield customers
are surveyed annually to evaluate employee performance in many
areas. The results are analyzed and published to ensure that service
levels remain high and customer needs are continually met. Customers
overwhelmingly state that they would recommend Shield to someone
in need.
Our mission is....
Shield Healthcare is a service organization dedicated to fulfilling
the medical supply needs of consumers and the caregiving community
with a focus on customer satisfaction and employee achievement
