The Northern California Golf Association Foundation (NCGA) instills in children the values inherent in golf and will allow our current generation, as well as those to come, to learn from the game. The Foundation recently created Youth on Course, a youth initiative designed to allow kids that have life skills and values training to use their life skills on the golf course. The NCGA Foundation subsidizes Northern California golf courses ensuring kids pay green fees of no more than $5 per round. In addition to Youth on Course, the NCGA Foundation awards grants to youth programs that teach deserving youth life skills and values through golf. More than $750,000 has been awarded over the past 15 years; approximately $125,000 in 2006.

Founded in 1990, the Northern California Golf Association Foundation, Inc is a non-profit IRS 501(c) (3) charitable organization. The NCGA Foundation operates under its own volunteer Board of Directors separate from the Northern California Golf Association, yet maintains strong links to assure continuity of purpose and performance.

Strict auditing and accounting guidelines have been a staple of the Foundation for years and we will continue to keep a watchful eye to ensure donated funds are truly helping improve the lives of youth at junior programs, schools and other organizations

The NCGA Foundation’s mission continues to be seeking to promote life skills and values through the game of golf to deserving youth in communities throughout Northern California.

There are many ways to support the Foundation. The Foundation accepts donations in the form of cash, stock, real estate, securities and other forms of property as tax-deductible contributions. Individual donations of $20 and over are automatically enrolled in Foundation membership. While we have many members that will donate individually, there are numerous other ways to support the NCGA Foundation. These include: the Club Enrollment Program, corporate donations, planned giving, and numerous others.

In 2006 the Foundation developed a new program with the help of a generous donation from the Morton Foundation. The Youth on Course Program, while still in the beginning stages has grown tremendously over the past year and is designed to give thousands of kids access to local golf courses across Northern California, in turn increasing the probability of youth becoming life long golfers.

The NCGA Foundation Pro-Am held annually in August, was once again successful as it raised over $160,000 for the Foundation in 2005. The event has grown annually and will continue to grow in size and stature in the coming years as we look to add more sponsors for a wonderful day at Spyglass Hill GC.

NCGA's newest fundraising initiative, the One Man Scramble, had a successful first year, but we are looking to make it bigger and better in 2006. The more this event grows and the more people that play directly translates to more money going back into local communities throughout the region.
